Italian grastronomy is so much for the pizza, pasta and risott. Sometimes is very similar at the Mediterranean Gastronomy.
Normally the pasta goes with some sauces, like the sauce of tomato or with cheese, like parmesano, etc.

Rice and pasta:  
-Pasta is the main ingredient of this renowned European cuisine. There is a wide selection of pasta that can be prepared as a main course. 
-The rice dishes are made ​​with one of the characteristic features of the kitchen in the north. There are so much variety of dishes, often cooked with fragrant broths using spices like saffron, sometimes used as filler for other ingredients such as tomatoes or as a garnish for fish or other seafood dishes.
